JAMMU, Feb 9: To promote the traditional folk culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production & National College of Computer Education presented 247th Regular Saturday Series Musical Play “Beti Do Ghar Ka Chirag”as part of its regular feature at open Air theatre Durga Bhawan, Janipur here.
The theme of the musical play was “Beti Bachao -Beti Padao”.
The programe was inaugurated by the chief guest VK Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, JK Raina, Freelancer Producer/Director Films, while Dr Anju Dogra and Dr Anupriya Sharma were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest while lauding the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (NGO), underlined the importance of staging such plays in all parts of the state to generate awareness among the masses about various social evils through theatre/drama, which are still very powerful medium of communication.
Magotra also urged the artists/cultural Organizations to contribute in enriching the cultural heritage of the country and inspiring the younger generation to follow the footprints of their elders in preserving the composite culture of the Nation.
The Play was written, produced and directed by ML Dogra, Chairman BLSKS.
The play is the agony of two conservative families who are bent upon getting their daughter and son married at tender age, ignoring the advice of intellectuals of the society. The marriage turns into a disaster making the life of both bride & groom miserable. Even bride ends her life owing to pangs of pregnancy at childhood after delivery of a dead baby. The cries of baby girl in womb of the mother caution all of us in the society, “Don’t kill me. I will be your helping hand in old age”.
The music was composed by Raju Bajgal, Music Instructor BLSKS.
The programme commenced with welcome song presented by the artists & students of BLSKS.
KK Joshi, Vice Chairman, BLSKS explained aims & objectives of the programme.
The singers, musicians, actors and the students of Music and Computer Institute who performed in the musical play were Usha Handoo, JK Raina, KK Joshi, MC Kotwal, Dhruv Pandit, Rajni Gupta, Chahat Chadha, Kuldeep Raj, Deevam Jandiyal, Rakshit Sharma, Priya Sharma, Heena, Bindia Arora, Tilak Raj, Ujwal Sharma, Vansh, Mohmmad Rafiq, Bablu Kumar and Sant Dass.
