KATHUA, Feb 8: The people from Parngoli and Prarajali area held demonstration at Pacca Kotha on Dayala Chak- Billawar road today and lodged their protest against the PDD authorities for their failure to restore power supply in the area.
The villagers from these areas came out on the road at around 9 am near Pacca Kotha village and stopped the movement of traffic. They created blockade using big stones and logs and blocked the vehicular movement. They shouted loud slogans against the Chief Minister, Minister of State for Power Viqar Rasool, Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer (PDD) Kathua.
The villagers alleged that there was no electricity in the area after a transformer installed at Pranjali by PDD authorities Hiranagar got damaged about a week back. The field staff is least bothered about the plight of the people. The students are badly suffering because their annual examinations are drawing nearer. They said that under such circumstances, the public is being forced to protest on the road and there seems to be no accountability on the part of officials of the PDD.
The movement of traffic remained suspended for about one and half hour. A large number of Government employees and students also remained stranded on the road. Later, SHO Hiranagar reached the spot and contacted the concerned Executive Engineer on phone. On his personal assurance, the agitating public lifted the dharna.
