RAMBAN, Feb 21: Batote police foiled major bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 85 cattle and arresting four persons.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Batote Police Station laid a naka near Nashri and intercepted four Srinagar bound trucks bearing registration numbers UP11AT-0997, JK02AP-1875, JK02AQ-7781 and JK21C-3848.
During checking, police team rescued 85 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested four persons, who have been identified as Yaqoob Hussain, son of Mohammad Aslam of Baghal Dhra, District Poonch, Mohammad Sadeeq, son of Mohammad Iqbal of Chappa, Batote, Mureed Ali, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Talab Tillo Jammu and Ashiq Ali, son of Mossaboth of Krimchi Mansar District Udhampur.
Cases under FIR Numbers 15/19, 16/19, 17/19 and 18/19 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Nazir Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
