JAMMU, Feb 21: Financial Inclusion and Insurance Department under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Anguraland in collaboration with NABARD organized eight Financial Literacy Awareness Programmes among unbanked villages of Branch Offices Kanthipora, Khumriyal, Kanispora, Pathla, Jandrah, Jhajjar Kotli, Khorsherabad & Hanjiwera under District-Kupwara, Baramulla, Jammu and Bandipora.
Simultaneously, fourteen village level programmes were also held at Ashtingoo, Quilmuqam, Watpora, Umer Market, Gho Manhasa, Haripur More, Palli Morh, Phainter, Mandi Sangwali, Pangdour, Chugal, Phuropeth, Gurah Salathia and Jakh under district Bandipora, Baramulla, Jammu, Kathua, Kupwara and Samba.
Imran Ahmad Dar, Sarpanch of village Kripalpora, one of the chief guests appreciated Financial Inclusion & Insurance Department for its remarkable performance in Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion activities in the State and for which J&K Grameen Bank was also awarded in State Credit Seminar 2019 organised by NABARD.
Irfan Hussain Malla, representative from BDO office, was the organiser and the guest of honour on the occasion. He also appreciated the efforts of the bank towards social security schemes.
Sajad Ahmad, Manager J&K Bank (on deputation), representative from RO Bandipora, gave a detailed overview of various lending and deposit schemes of the Bank, while Jehan Ara Khan, Branch Head, Hanjiwera, J&K Grameen Bank, highlighted that the programme intends to impact the gathering regarding digitisation by educating the people about the benefits of digital banking and cash less economy.
Representatives of Line Departments like KVIB, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Education and NRLM also attended the programme, besides the huge gathering of students and farmers of the villages.
Branch Heads at their respective locations spread the message of financial literacy and awareness among the population of remote villages.
They enlightened people and students about new technologies available in the bank such as multiple uses of Bank cheques, Use of POS Machine, RuPay Debit card, KCC RuPay Debit Card, Net Banking, Mobile Banking Services, IMPS, and Aadhaar based transactions.
