AJKKU to protest for Kissan Credit Cards, Land Pass Books

JAMMU, Feb 10: All Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Union (AJKKU) has announced to launch protests against non-issuance of Kissan Credit Cards and Land Pass Books to farmers besides release of special relief package of Rs 500 crore against the Rabbi Kharief of 2012.
Decision in this regard was taken in a special meeting of the executive committee of AJKKU, here today.
The AJKKU also appealed the Government to depute special teams to assess the damage caused to crops, fruit, vegetables, houses and live stock due to recent hail storm, heavy rains and snowfall.
Addressing the meeting, AJKKU chairman Ashok Sharma stressed that irrigation channels should be cleaned at war footing for timely release of water. He opined that hand pumps and PSs should be installed for community use and not for individuals. He also demanded insurance for crops and cattle on Government expenses.
Vice-chairman AJKKU M S Jamwal said that tree felling along the National Highway should be avoided as far as possible and stone crushers in the residential areas should be removed forthwith to avoid pollution.
