POONCH, Feb 24: Gujjar leader, Shamsher Hakla Poonchi today demanded continuation of Article 35-A and 370 in J&K.
In a handout he claimed that Gujjars and Bakarwals of J&K are in favour of these Articles as these provide special status to the J&K State.
Poonchi also said that excluding Leh and Kargil districts, Gujjar-Bakarwal can be found in the remaining 20 districts of J&K.
He claimed that if Article 35-A and Article 370 are abolished then the relation of J&K with India will weaken.
He informed that needs and problems of Gujjars-Bakarwals are quite different from other communities of J&K.
“Gujjar-Bakarwal community mostly resides in far-flung, hilly, mountainous areas near the forests and at Line of Control,” he maintained.
