UDHAMPUR, Feb 24: A man died when a tree fell on him at Latti while 11 houses got collapsed due to landslide in Pachote area of Chenani in Udhampur district.
Reports said that 47-year old Sham Lal, son of Krishan Chand of Latti was crushed under a big tree, which fell on him due to landslide. He was rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Latti where doctor pronounced him as brought dead.
Meanwhile, 11 houses collapsed due to landslides following continuous and heavy rainfall in Panchayat Pachote, Block Chenani. Even as there was no loss of life, all items in the houses got damaged. Exact figure of the total losses was yet to be ascertained. All the families in these houses managed to come out and reach safer places and had narrow escape.
These houses belonged to Bitu Ram son of Gyan Chand, Chatru son of Sarnu, Dev Raj son of Parsu Ram, Sushma Devi wife of Sham Lal, Sushma Devi wife of Bittu, Surju Devi wife of Suram Chand, Rattan Lal son of Jagta (all at Pachote), Om Parkash son of Bandu of Sangote, Munshi Ram son of Mansa Ram of Mandlote and Poli Devi wife of Ram Paul of Karlha.
