FIR lodged against encroachment on NH

RAJOURI, Feb 24: Police has booked many persons for damaging Government property, blockage of drain and illegal encroachment of National Highway (NH-144A).
On a written complaint made before District Administration Rajouri by General Reserve Engineering Force wherein it was mentioned that at 142.800 kilometres point of National Highway, unknown persons started a road construction work near Christ School take off point in Muradpur village without any permission from GREF and without laying Hume pipe which led to severe damage of highway besides choking of culvert.
The approximate cost of the damage is Rs 1,20,000. Along with this, it was also submitted in report that at 144.400 kilometres point of highway,  a person namely Nishikant Saraf and at 144.500 point, a person namely Manzoor Malik started illegal building construction and created clogging of line drains which lead to stagnation of rain water. It caused drain out of black top surface for a length of 250 metres in front of construction site. The duo made a damage to the government / public property for an amount of Rs 7,20,000.
It has also been mentioned that the said constructions are within the alignment of 50 feet from the centerline of the carriageway which is totally illegal under the Ribbon Development Act SVT 2007.
On the basis of this report, an initial inquiry was conducted wherein it was found that national highway is damaged. Taking note of this , police has registered a case in FIR 86/2019 under sections 427 RPC, 4 PPD Act and 3 Prevention of Ribbon Act and has booked Nishikant Saraf and Manzoor Malik.
