Candidates who took GATE 2019 exam earlier this month have an essential update. The official answer key of the GATE 2019 has been published by IIT Madras. Candidates can now download the answer key by visiting the official website. Though the unofficial answer keys floated by various coaching institutes are in the market from the day of the exam, but authenticity can’t be guaranteed. Candidates can utilise the official answer key to estimate their score and get an idea about their performance in the exam before the result of GATE 2019 is out. The GATE results are expected to be declared by March 16th.
How to Download GATE 2019 Answer Key?
Below is the detailed procedure to download the answer key of GATE 2019.
- Visit the official website: http://gate.iitm.ac.in/
- Click on the “GATE 2019 Answer key.”
- The new tab would show the list of Answer keys and Question Paper of all the disciplines for which the exam was conducted.
- Click on your respective answer key and question paper link.
- A PDF file would open.
- Save the file on your device.
GATE 2019 Scorecard
After evaluation of the answers candidates can use their raw marks to estimate the GATE scores. Due to the difficulty of the exam, the authorities normalizes the marks based on the defined formula. Hence, the GATE 2019 scorecard would contain the candidate’s normalised score rather than the raw score. The scorecard is an important document that certifies the performance of the candidate in the exam. The scorecard is required to be produced by the candidate at the time of counselling for GATE 2019 or the document verification stage.
There are many PSUs recruiting through GATE. Candidates planning to apply for PSUs would also have to present their scorecard during the document evaluation stage. The scorecard would contain the following important details:
- Candidate’s name
- Father and Mother name
- GATE 2019 registration number
- GATE 2019 roll number
- The category under which the candidate is classified
- The sub-category of the candidate
- Domicile state of the candidate
- State wise rank of the candidate
- Category rank of the candidate
- Overall rank of the candidate
- Discipline for which candidate took GATE 2019
- The normalised score obtained by the candidate
GATE 2019 Cut-off
The GATE cut-off would vary for each discipline that is Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering etc. It would depend on specific parameters. These parameters include:
- The difficulty level of the paper
- Error or something in specific questions (If any)
- Number of Candidates who took the exam
- Number of seats up available
On the analysis of these parameters and based on the official answer key, cut-off for this year can be estimated. As per experts and coaching institutes the overall general cut-off for GATE 2019 (regarding all branches) can be anywhere between 30 to 35 marks. The exact branch-wise cutoff would only be revealed once the results are published officially.
