Army-police take out flag-march, shut down observed in Mandi

POONCH, Feb 25: The Army, Para-military and J&K Police men jointly took out flag- march in border township of Mendhar, additional deployment of security force personnel was witnessed in Poonch city while Mandi town of the district today observed complete shut down in support of Art 35-A of the Constitution.
Sources said that the Army, Police and Para-military force men today took out flag march in the sensitive border town of Mendhar after the District Magistrate imposed section 144 CrPC. No untoward incident has been reported from this town today while market and schools were opened. There was additional deployment of forces at various places across this Sub Division.

In Poonch city also additional deployment of the security forces was witnessed while most of the city parts had been closed for the public today in view of the section 144 CrPC which was imposed by the DM last evening. Even the wine shops were also closed down apprehending some law and order problem after verdict of Art 35-A by the Administration.
Meanwhile, reports said Mandi town of Poonch observed complete bandh over Art 35A. The people were opposing abrogation or any tinkering with this Article, providing special status to the J&K state. All the shops and other establishments/ schools remained closed, however, some vehicles plied on Mandi-Poonch road. The bandh passed off peacefully.
