BILLAWAR, Feb 25: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that terminating National Health Mission (NHM) employees was no solution to the problem.
While interacting with various delegations at Durang in Billawar former Minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said recent termination of NHM employees by the Government who were agitating since long for their demands, is totally unjustified. He said the termination of these employees at this time is not the solution to the problem when the state is already facing acute shortage of doctors and subordinate staff in hospitals.
Dr Sharma said that instead of solving the issues of employees who are on a month long strike, now the State Administration behaved in “dictatorial” way by terminating the employees. He said in many parts of State, Health Centers had been closed down due to non-availability of staff. Due to closure of roads following inclement weather, reports of patients undergoing hardships due to unavailable healthcare services, have been pouring in regularly. The healthcare has suffered a jolt due non-availability of NHM employees, who form the only healthcare staff pool in many areas.
The Congress leader further requested the Govt to reconsider their decision and find a concrete solution to their demands which include regularization, removal of pay anomaly and service benefits to employees working with the Mission. He also urged the State Government to look into matter of regularization of daily wagers from various departments such as ReT, PHE, PWD, PDD and Forest who are pressing hard for their regularization even after completing 10 years of service.
Dr Sharma listened to their grievances and assured that he will take their issues with the concerned authorities.
