Hurra Ashtami celebrated with religious fervor, gaiety

JAMMU, Feb 26: Hurra Ashtami was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety by Kashmiri Pandits in different Ashrams and temples today.
Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) celebrated the festival in the Sabha premises at Ambphalla here. A Pooja -Archana was performed on the occasion in a traditional manner in which large number of devotees participated. After the function Prasad was distributed among the devotees.
The Sabha president, K K Khosa along with S L Bagati, Ashok Braroo, Ashwani Koul, Subash Dhar, Rajinder Tickoo, Jitender Parimoo, J L Zuthsi, Ashok Kher, T N Bhat, Dr Ashok Koul, Deepak Dhar and others participated in the celebrations.
In connection with Hurra Ashtami celebrations a grand function as usual was held at Swami Kumar Ji Geeta Satsang Ashram, Muthi in which a large number of devotees participated. A Bhajan -Kirtan was also held on the occasion which was followed by religious discourses by Swami Kumar Ji. He threw light on the religious significance of Hurra Ashtami which comes five days prior to Maha Shaivratri festival.
The Pooja -Archana was also held in the Ashram which was followed by serving of Prasad to devotees.
On the occasion of Hurrah Ashtami a Varshik Hawan was performed by the inhabitants of Subash Nagar at Shiv Temple Tope Sherkhania quarters, Subash Nagar. The Maha Yagya started yesterday evening and puranahuti was performed this afternoon. On the occasion prayers were held for the peace of 43 CRPF martyrs also who laid down their lives in Fidayeen attack in Pulwama on February 14. A large number of devotees participated in the function and they were served the Prasad after Puranahuti.
Hurra Ashtami was celebrated with full religious fervor and gaiety at Sharika Sanstha in which hundreds of devotees and Jagat Amba took part. The celebration started with Shivratri Puja at 4 pm which culminated at 7 pm. The live Vatak Pooja was held in the feet of divine mother. This was followed by Pushp Archana of Mata Sharika and after that Prasad was served to devotees. Later Bhajan Kirtan continued during entire night.
