DB imposes costs on DGP, JDA, PWD

JAMMU, Feb 26: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan has imposed costs of Rs 5,000 each on Director General of Police, JDA & PWD for their failure to file status report about the damage caused to the 4th Tawi Bridge and delay in the arrest of offenders.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed, “despite the orders passed on 28th December, 2018 and 31st January, 2019, no status report has been filed as such we are imposing costs of Rs 5,000 each on all the three respondents which are to be paid to the Welfare Fund of the Central Reserve Police Force”, adding “costs shall be deposited within one week from today and proof of deposit shall be placed before us”.
DB further observed, “in case the status report setting out action taken is not filed within two weeks, the respondents shall remain personally present in the court on the next date of hearing”.
