LEH, (LADAKH), Feb 27: Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal inaugurated the new building of Arhat Hall of Wisdom at Spituk today. Monks of Spituk Monastery, Deputy Commissioner, CEO, LAHDC, Leh, Avny Lavasa, Councillor Phyang Constituency, Phunchok Dorjey, vice-president, LBA P.T. Kunzang, eminent Physician, Dr. Tsering Norboo, HODs of concerned departments and villagers of Spituk in large number were present on the occasion.
The building has been funded under Rurban Mission, MP-LAD, 14th Finance Commission, and Councillor Constituency Development Fund and the executing agency is the Rural Development Department, (RDD)Leh.
The function started with the lighting of the lamp by CEC Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
CEC began with recounting the enormous contributions of the 19th Kushok Gyalras, Bakula Rinpoche towards overall upliftment of the entire Ladakh region in general and the core importance of education in particular. As the construction of the hall comes under the GoI Rurban Mission which is targeted to deliver integrated project based infrastructure in the rural areas, said JTN, this scheme was introduced by former Member Parliament, Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang. Responding to the request made by villagers, CEC assured of all assistance from Council for further completion of the hall.
He further said that the black topping of Spituk Markalaga to Choglamsar via Agling, and street lighting along this road will be completed in the coming Summer season. Car parking at Spituk Gonpa will also be completed in phase manner, he added.
JTN also spoke widely about the importance of organic as well as sustainable farming practice. He said that the council has plans to provide market for locally grown vegetables by discouraging import of those vegetables that are already available locally during the Summer season. This practice will be instrumental in maintaining good health of the people and will also benefit farmers economically. Similarly, he spoke about the importance of bringing Bhoti language in letter and spirit for its preservation and promotion.
CEC JTN then spoke highly about eminent Physician, Dr. Tsering Norboo, and honoured Dr. Norboo with ‘Khatags’ on behalf of the LAHDC and the entire people of Ladakh for his continuous medical service and for being announced for the prestigious Padma Shri Award.
