Art 35-A victimised Valmiki community: Sena

JAMMU, Feb 27: Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray J&K unit today met with the people of Valmiki community here and demanded removal of Article 35-A.
Speaking on this occasion, State Shiv Sena chief, Dimpy Kohli and General Secretary, Manish Sahni said that a handful of Kashmiri leaders are misguiding the people on 35-A for their own personal interests.
Kohli said that Valmiki community which cleans the city is worst victim 35-A.
“Due to discrimination done with this community its members are forced to live like refugees while the government had brought them to J&K in the year 1957 from Punjab,” he said.
He further informed that children of this community have no choice other than to become a Safai Karamcharis due to Article 35-A.
Talking to reporters, Sahni said Valmiki community is not even given admissions in government professional institutions nor can they contest elections for Legislative Assembly.
Shiv Sena State Vice President, Harsh Kumar Gupta, Surjeet Singh Chib, Romesh Koul and others were also present in the meeting.
