JAMMU, Feb 28: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh today visited the family of martyr Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DySP), Aman Kumar Thakur who gave supreme sacrifice of his life in an encounter at Turigam, Kulgam on February 24.
DGP who was accompanied by ADGP, A. K Choudhary, ADGP Armed, S.J.M. Gillani and IGP Jammu, M. K. Sinha expressed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of J&K Police Department with the bereaved family.
The Director General of Police, while interacting with the bereaved family assured them that entire Police Department is with them and will take care of them. He promised all possible help to the next of kins of the martyr.
The DGP and other senior officers acknowledged the exemplary courage shown by the officer in the line of duty.. The martyr is survived by parents, wife and six year old son.
Martyr DySP, Aman Thakur attained martyrdom on February 24, when a joint operation by J&K Police and CAPFs was launched, in which three JeM terrorists including two foreigners were killed at Turigam, Kulgam. Martyr DySP was leading the operation against militants. The officer was critically injured when he without caring for his life tried to evacuate his injured colleague. He was shifted to the hospital where he succumbed.
