Arthoscopic surgeries performed at DH Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Mar 1 : District Hospital (DH) Udhampur conducted the successful Arthoscopic rotator cuff repair of left shoulder and Athroscopic Artholysis of left knee joint in two patients.
First patient was unable to lift her shoulder and was suffering from pain since 6 months. She was diagnosed with rotator cuff tear of left shoulder. Successful Arthoscopic rotator cuff repair was done. The smooth procedure took 90 minutes. The second patient was suffering from stiff knee because of which she could not bend her knee and walk properly. Successful Arthoscopic Artholysis of her left knee was done.
Arthoscopy (also called keyhole surgery) is minimal invasive surgical procedure on joint in which examination as well treatment of damage joint is performed using an Arthoscope, an endoscope that is inserted into joint through a small incision.
These Arthoscopic surgeries were performed by Dr Balvinder Singh, Consultant Orthopaedics and his team comprising of Dr Prakash Atri (Anesthesist), Rajinder (Theatre Assistant), Sister Monika Singh and Mahesh and Peter (OT staff).
From last one year all sports injuries related procedure for Ligament tear (Acl), meniscus tear and shoulder rotator cuff tear is done in District Hospital Udhampur. This is all done under supervision of Medical Superintendent, Dr Vijay Basnotra and CMO Udhampur, Dr KC Dogra. These Arthoscopic surgeries are done rarely in Government hospitals of the State. Patients have to go out of state for these procedures.
