JAMMU, Mar 2: Tawi Trekkers J&K, the biggest trekking club of J&K, released its calendar of activities for the year 2019, in a simple but impressive function held at K L Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, here today.
Patron of Tawi Trekkers J&K Ashwani Sharma, former MLA released the Calendar of Activities along with Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Chief Executive Officer, Surinsar- Mansar Development Authority; Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, an eminent scientist and a writer and Advisor of Tawi Trekkers J&K; Rahul Sharma, Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu; Rameshwar Mengi, Principal, Shiksha Niketan group of Schools, Jammu, Arti Sharma, Principal Apple Kids, Bantalab, Jammu; Vishav Mohan Sharma, Administrator, National Academy High School, Udhampur; Everester Ram Singh and a number of heads of various educational institutions.
Highlighting the activities to be undertaken by the club this year President of the club Ram Khajuria mentioned that this year the club will organize only one Himalayan Trekking Programme in Dharamshala area of Himachal Pradesh for about 500 school children during summer vacations, three trekking expeditions in Dhauladhar Range in Himachal Pradesh including one to Triund (10000ft) for Junior members and an expedition to Minkiani Pass (14000ft) for senior members and a trek from Dalhousie to Chamba exclusively for senior citizens. Besides, a Heritage Trekking Programme in Kangra area of Himachal Pradesh will also be organized for about 200 students during the months of October to December, 2019.
An interesting programme of the club will be Adventure Picnics/short treks to Heritage sights of Jammu and ambitious mountaineering expedition to Mt. Elbrus, the highest peak of Europe in Russia.
While Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary of the club presented the report of the activities conducted by the club during 2018, Arti Sharma conducted the proceedings of the function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr C K Khajuria, former General Secretary, Yogeshwar Kumar, Vice President and Sushil Singh, Treaurer of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Mridhu Padha, Administrator, St. Xavier Senior Secondary School, Jammu; Sumit Khajuria, a senior member, Navneet Gupta of Snow Trail Mountaineers, Ms. Suman Lata, Director Physical Education, Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu; Shivani Charak, an international sport climber; Shashi Kant Sharma and Ambreen Fatima, both prominent mountaineers of the club.
