JAMMU, Mar 2: Eleven persons including a man and her minor daughter were killed while 38 others sustained injuries in three separate accidents in Udhampur, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Jammu province.
As per reports, a private bus bearing registration number JK02BR-5503 was on its way to Kashmir from Jammu via Mansar when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into gorge at village Chanaid on Surinsar-Battal Morh road in district Udhampur, resulting into on the spot death of five passengers and injuries to 39 others.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started rescue operation in collaboration with personnel from Civil Defence.
All the injured persons were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where one of the injured persons failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to his injuries, thereby taking the death toll to six and injured to 38. All the injured persons were responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
Bodies of the victims identified as Mohammad Iqbal Barket, son of Mishri Barket of Mastpura Killer district Shopian, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, son of Haji Mohammad Sarwar of Nowpora Nek Mohalla Sopore, Javeed Ahmed Sheikh, son of Abdul Raheem Sheikh of Kawsa Jagir district Budgam, Farooq Ahmed Sheikh, son of Abdul Raheem Sheikh of Ganj Janghir Wapura district Bandipora, Asiya, wife of Bashir Ahmed of Hajin district Bandipora and Ghulam Ahmed Mir, son of Sanaullah Mir of Ladhore, district Baramulla were handed over to family members after completing medical and legal formalities.

As per police sources, the bus was on its way to Kashmir and left from Jammu Bus Stand late last night.
A case under FIR Number 17/19 under Sections 279, 337 and 304-A RPC has been registered at Majalta Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, four persons were killed and two others received injuries when a Maruti Van bearing registration number JK02AK-7903 met with accident at Dadpeth near Mughal Maidan area of district Kishtwar.
The vehicle was on its way to Dadpeth from Kushan, when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle rolled down at Dadpeth near Mughal Maidan, causing death of two persons on the spot and injuries to four others. Later, two injured persons succumbed to their injuries and the death toll reached four.
The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Hassan, son of Ghulam Mohammad and Naveeda (12), daughter of Ayaz Ahmed of Maindhar Dadpeth, Jaffar Hussain, son of Wali Mohammad of Dadpeth and Ayaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Maindhar Dadpeth.
After first aid at District Hospital Kishtwar, the injured persons identified as Ghulam Hussain, son of Mustafa Malik of Kuchan and Imtiyaz Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain Sheikh of Maindhar Dedpeth were referred to GMCH Jammu for advanced treatment.
A case in this regard has been registered at Chatroo Police Station and investigation started.
In another accident, a driver was killed when the truck he was driving collided head on with an oil tanker at Marog area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in district Ramban.
As per police sources, an oil tanker bearing registration number JK03E-2393 was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar, when it collided head on with a truck bearing registration number JK02AQ-6285 at Marog, resulting into death of truck driver identified as Gurdev Singh, son of Swaran Singh of Preet Nagar, Simbal Camp district Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation into the case is going on.
Meanwhile, Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives in a road accident near Majalta in district Udhampur.
In a condolence message, the Governor has conveyed his sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
The Governor has directed the administration to provide best medical treatment to the injured persons. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs 20,000 each to those injured in the accident.
Former Chief Minister J&K Ghulam Nabi Azad has also expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic road accident in Dadpeth area of Kishtwar district today resulting into the loss of four persons and injuries to two others.
Azad has urged Governor Satya Pal Malik to take effective steps to check road accidents and pass directions to the Traffic Department to take adequate and stringent measures to check the recurrence of road accidents.
He also urged the Governor to provide adequate ex-gratia relief of Rs 10 lakhs each in favour of the deceased family members.
