KATHUA, Mar 3: Commissioner Secretary to Government Department of Forests, Environment and Ecology, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi alongwith Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests, Suresh Chugh and in presence of Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu Sameer Bharti inaugurated the office building of Divisional Forest Officer, Basohli.
Basohli Forest Division was created during the year 2016-17 for effective administration of forests areas of Bani and Basohli.
While addressing the gathering, Dwivedi empathized that all wings of Forest Department shall work in coordination to achieve the goals of forest conservation with full dedication.
After inauguration, Commissioner Secretary Forests inspected the eco-tourism infrastructure development works at Panagar and directed the concerned staff to expedite the completion of works of eco-tourism at the earliest and utilize the boats procured by the department under eco-tourism society mode.
A ceremonial plantation was carried out by Commissioner Secretary by planting sapling of Chinar. He appreciated the fencing and plantation works carried out in evicted areas of Garnol.
During the tour the progress of Eco-Task Force facilities being created at Basohli was inspected and reviewed in detail and it was emphasised by the Commission Secretary to expand the area of operation in degraded forest areas to enhance the green cover in the region.
