UDHAMPUR, Mar 4: Hitting out at previous rulers, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh asked why the development works could not take place at such a pace during their rule in the State as in the last five years of Narendra Modi Government.
Dr Jitendra Singh was addressing the public meetings at Devika and Chenani today after laying foundation of Rs 74 lakh Devika bridge here and inauguration of newly renovated KV building at Chenani.
He said the question is not what was done in last five years of Narendra Modi Government but question is that why this could not be done even during last 65 years of Congress and its allies’ rule who totally ignored the Jammu region with the result many areas are still backward and deprived of basic facilities of life.
Giving a push to development of the area, Dr Jitendra Singh said it is the commitment of Narendra Modi Government to bring the far flung areas with the other developed areas of the country “and we have lived up to that commitment”.

He said whatever was done in last five years of Modi rule can be compared with any five years in 65 years of opposition rule and one can find a vast difference. Dr Jitendra Singh said the Chenani Constituency has remained neglected especially in health care and education in past and with the establishment of KV and opening of Degree college in the Constituency the educational facilities will improve to a great extent.
He said with the construction of this vital bridge on Devika, the congestion will end at this point and traffic will ply smoothly giving a lot of respite to commuters. He said with the rejuvenation Project of Devika river, entire scenario of Udhampur will completely change and besides, a pilgrimage centre it will become very important recreation centre and tourist destination. The construction work of the bridge will be completed in six months, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted various developmental projects taken up in hand in the Kathua -Udhampur and Doda Parliamentary Constituency and said that after their completion they will prove game changer for the entire region and also prove an economic boon for the people.
He, while cautioning the people not to get misled by Opposition propaganda said that in desperation the opposition parties are leveling false and baseless allegations on Narendra Modi Government but this all has boomeranged as the people of the country are mature enough to fall in their trap. The people of the country trust Modi and they have a lot of faith in him and his leadership, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh regretted that some opposition leaders are demanding proof of Air Force strike on Pakistan and this way they raise fingers on the capability of Indian Armed forces. “This is dangerous as it questions the capability of armed forces,” he added.
He said it is a history whenever country faced any crisis in past BJP stood like a rock with Government and assured all cooperation and support to it by endorsing its decisions. “We had been with Government in 1965 and 1971 wars and even in its fight against terrorism in Punjab and other places but the opposition parties raised fingers and leveled allegations on BJP during Kargil war and later during the surgical strikes in Myanmar and Pakistan and demanded proof for the same.
Earlier, while talking to reporters at Jammu, the Union Minister said Congress leaders are leveling allegations on Modi and BJP with an eye on ensuing elections. “They hardly ponder over what they are actually saying but they are just playing with the whole pack,” he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said this is not only unbecoming but outrageous also on the eve of elections.
