JAMMU, Mar 5: Sulabh International Social Service Organization (SISSO) celebrated its 49th foundation day at its headquarter in Trikuta Nagar.
The celebration started with cake cutting ceremony. Anil Kumar Singh, Hony Controller J&K State branch delivered a speech on the occasion. He said that on this day (on the 5th of March), 49 years ago, Dr Bindeshwar Pathak had laid the foundation of Sulabh International. He said today we are thrilled to applaud and salute him for his epic struggle for nurturing, evolving and taking Sulabh to great heights—making it as one of the world’s 10 biggest NGOs and the biggest one in the sanitation sector.
Anil Kumar said on its 49th foundation day, Sulabh International recalls and celebrates the enormously eventful journey of its illustrious founder Dr Bindeshwar Pathak. “At the time when any talk about toilet was considered a taboo, Dr Pathak made making toilets his calling, his career, which earned him resentment and wrath from his near and dear ones,” he added.
He said during last 49 years, under inspirational and visionary leadership of Dr Pathak, Sulabh has emerged as a global icon and a household name in sanitation and social sectors. “Today, Sulabh stands for liberation, equity, innovation, cleanliness and humanism,” he further added.
