Govt bans use of incandescent lamps

JAMMU, Feb 12: In order to ensure efficient use of energy and its conservation, the Government has ordered mandatory use of Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) in all Government buildings, Government institutions, PSUs, Autonomous bodies and all commercial establishments.
As per the Government order issued here today, the use of incandescent lamps in all new buildings constructed in Government sector, Government institutions, PSUs, Autonomous bodies and commercial establishments has been banned with immediate effect. Besides, it has been made mandatory that in all these establishments the incandescent lamps will be replaced by CFLs within a period of two months.
The order further States that use of CFLs shall also be mandatory conditions in release, sanction orders for all new connections/loads for all Government establishments and autonomous bodies.
