JU Business School organises Doctoral Colloquium

JAMMU, Mar 14: The Business School, University of Jammu, organized its first Doctoral Colloquium in business and allied disciplines. This Doctoral Colloquium is organized as a part of the international conference on the theme “Strategic Marketing Initiatives in Emerging Markets” in collaboration with North American Society for Marketing Education in India (NASMEI) on March 15-16, 2019.
The Colloquium aimed to have research scholars and academicians from different areas of management to present their respective dissertation related work. All the scholars currently enrolled in fellow/PhD program in any discipline of management were eligible to participate in this event.
Earlier, in her inaugural address, Prof Alka Sharma, Director, The Business School, JU, emphasized the need for such doctoral programs that provide platform for budding researchers to shape their research ideas, as there is an exchange of thoughts among the young minds that fosters research communication. She said that Doctoral Colloquium helps in strengthening the network of young researchers and urged the aspiring researchers to understand the ins and outs of good research so that they can deliver valuable inputs to the businesses and society at large.
The day began with the special session for doctoral students on the topic ‘Trends in Management Research’ by Dr Sunny Bose, Associate Professor, IBS, Hyderabad. He highlighted the trends of transitional and developing economies and also the criticality of approach and methodology in research with focused importance to emic and etic approach of research. He drew the attention of the audience towards the positive scenario of research in India, highlighting that Indian researchers are getting international acceptance and global exposure.
The workshop was followed by the Doctoral Consortium in which Prof Nimit Choudhary, HoD, Tourism Department, Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi and Dr Dinesh Sharma, Associate Professor, IIT, Mumbai were the expert reviewers for the same.
More than 40 doctoral researchers from various Universities participated in the event and presented their research work before the experts. Certificates were also distributed to the participants. The best Doctoral work shall be awarded a cash prize during the award ceremony in the valedictory ceremony of the international conference.
