Channi Himmat residents flay erratic ration supply

JAMMU, Mar 14: A meeting of Channi Himmat Residents Association was held today under the chairmanship of its president, Advocate V.K Grover wherein the participating members expressed their deep anguish over the erratic supply of ration for the last couple of years.
Speaking in the meeting Channi Himmat residents quoted a news report published in ‘Daily Excelsior’ which highlighted an important matter of public concern regarding ration.
“Instead of releasing more sugar as demanded by the Association for the months of festivals the government has completely stopped the supply of sugar through their nominated and licensed PDS outlets on one pretext or the other,” Association members said while speaking in the meeting.
They also said that the government remained negligent to maintain supply of ‘Atta’ and ‘Rice’ to public through ration holders.
“It becomes more serious when so many criminal cases of misappropriation are registered and authorities are not bringing such culprits to judicial determination,” the members further said.
“Poisonous and spurious Atta & Rice are being supplied to consumers deliberately forcing them to deny supply of ration from government PDS outlets. The earlier mode of supply in 10 Kg packets of Atta was almost satisfactory but instead of improving that system the government has introduced open Atta system without bags causing people to refuse this supply so that the same can be sold in black market,” Association members maintained.
This Association demanded that Governor’s regime should issue digitized ration cards, supply of ration in proper packing, resumption of regular sugar supply, hold enquiry into the facts brought out media reports and bring culprits to book.
