DFCO suspends licenses of 15 medical shops for violation of rules

JAMMU, Mar 15: Drugs & Food Control Organization (DFCO) carried out surprise and supervisory check of various medical sales establishments in various parts of Jammu region and suspended licenses of 15 outlets for violation of rules.
The teams of DFCO also audited the drug stores of public sector as a part of special drive to check and ensure that drugs of acceptable and genuine quality are available in the market/Government institutions to the end users.
During the surprise inspections, more than 100 statutory drug samples of various categories of drugs viz antibiotics, PPI, steroid, NSAIDs, etc were drawn for testing/analysis to ascertain the identity, strength and purity of these drugs. Stocks of medicines worth Rs 1.50 lakh were confiscated during the drive as those were found contravening the provisions of the Act.
Moreover, during this exercise operations of 15 drug sales establishments were disallowed on spot as these firms were found violating and contravening the provisions of the Act and subsequently their licenses were suspended under law.
During these inspections special emphasis were laid to curb the misuse of abortificient medicines and the medical sales establishments were directed to strictly sell these drugs as per the mandate of law and strictly in consonance with the prescriptions. The distributors have been warned to secure due diligence while supplying the abortifacient drugs to the institutions/medical outlets.
The firms which were found violating the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act and the licenses of which were disallowed on spot and were thereafter suspended are M/s SR Medical Hall, Disco Road, Janipur ; M/s Verma Medical Hall, Akhnoor, M/s Avtar Medicos, RS Pura; M/s ASCOMS Pharmacy, Sidhra; M/s Raj Harshvardhan Medicos, Akhnoor; M/s Mac Life Sciences, Jammu; M/s Paul Medicos, Bari Brahmana; M/s Jai Datta Medical Hall, Bari Brahmana; M/s Sunil Medicate, IGC, Samba; M/s Amandeep Medical Stores, Samba; M/s Ashok Medical Hall, RS Pura; M/s Shiv Medicos, Main Road, Manwal, Majalata; M/s Shahshwant Medical Hall, Manawal, Udhampur, M/s Sharma Medical Hall, Seri, Rajouri and M/s Bharat Medicos, Basholi.
