REASI, Mar 16: Cub of a leopard was found abandoned and subsequently captured by locals at village Shapanu in Kanjali Panchayat of Reasi, this evening.
The cub was found abandoned by the mother leopard near a house. Locals captured it and immediately informed the Wildlife Department, a team oh which reached the village and took the cub into their custody for safety and protection.
Even as the cub has been handed over the Wildlife Department, efforts are now being made to look out the mother leopard, which is believed to be roaming nearby.
It may be recalled that a few days back, another leopard cub was found dead in Simbal Choua area of Reasi and investigations are still going on for ascertaining the cause of its death.
