SAMBA, Mar 18: The Power Development Department’s (PDD) drive is continuing to make revenue recovery 100 percent in the State. The PDD M&RE Division, Vijaypur has taken tough stand against the defaulters by cutting the connections of ten houses who did not deposit the dues of the bills.
To tighten its noose on the big defaulters, the M&RE Sub Division, Ramgarh on the instructions of Executive Engineer, Vijaypur, launched a drive in Ramgarh town. The drive was launched by PDD team under the supervision of AEE, Aiyaz-ul-Rehman and AE Ajay Chowdhary in the town. During the drive, the electricity connections of ten defaulters were disconnected whose electricity rent was more than four lakh.
AEE Aiyaz-ul-Rehman and AE Ajay Chowdhary said that during the last one-and-a-half months, the Department has disconnected the electricity connections of about one thousand defaulters. In the list of consumers whose connections have been deducted, the big defaulters have been listed with priority, he added.
He said apart from this, the consumers who have less than four lakh power tariff against them have also been included in the list. JE Ramgarh, Chander Veer said that this drive was launched to recover the huge outstanding from the consumers and make them habitual of paying the tariff on monthly basis in future. The action will be taken to cut connections of Government and non-government consumers who do not deposit the bills, he added.
It is true that the Department has tightened the noose on defaulters and action perturbed those who have been habitual of delaying the payment, an official of the PDD said. Apart from this other people are also warned not to indulge in power theft, he added.
