Traffic Police challans 290 vehicles, imposes Rs 36,000 fine

JAMMU, Mar 18: In order to curb the menace of traffic violations in district Kathua, Traffic Police Rural Jammu under the supervision of Mohan Lal Kaith, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu along with DySP Traffic Samba Kathua Behari Lal and other officers launched a joint surprise checking drive today, against school buses, overloading in passenger buses, dumpers, without crash helmets and other visible offences.
During the surprise checking, 238 vehicles were compound challaned, 36 were court challaned, 16 vehicles including two wheelers were seized under offence 207/ MVA and a fine of amount Rs.36,200 has been realized from the violators.
Besides, number of vehicles have been booked under various visible offences like driving without DL, Use of Mobile Phone while driving, without crash helmet, triple riding, over speeding etc. in which innocent human lives are directly involved. Moreover, all the field officers have been directed for having zero tolerance for the violators indulging in without wearing crash helmet, rash driving, without seat belt, overloading particularly in PSVs as well as other visible offences. Kaith reiterated that surprise check on traffic violation will be continue on the roads and strict punitive measure will be taken in order to save the lives of general masses.
