POONCH, Mar 18: The Sarpanchs and Panchs of various Panchayat halqas of Mandhar today locked BDO office Mendhar and held strong protest against RDD authorities.
The Sarpanchs including Azhar Naseem Khan, Ch Amanullah, Mohd Razak and others along with Panchs and members of labour class assembled at BDO office at around 11 am and locked it. They started protest demonstration. They were demanding release of pending MGNEGRA payments for the last four years.
They alleged that the concerned BDO and his staff were not making payments to the labourers and others under material component, despite the fact that they have received funds. They are not clearing old liabilities under MGNREGA.
Later, Tehsildar Mendhar, two Naib Tehsildars and SHO reached there. They pacified the protesting Sarpanchs and Panchs and rescue the staff at around 1.30 pm.
