NCB arrests 3 drug peddlers with cannabis

JAMMU, Mar 20: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Unit Jammu arrested three drug peddlers along with around 75 kilograms of cannabis.
As per official spokesman, NCB Jammu Zonal Unit affected a major seizure of 74.5 kilograms of cannabis from a truck bearing registration number JK02U-9325 in which one person namely Shahnawaz Ahmad Kada (42), a resident of District Anantnag has been arrested at Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota. The drug was kept in this truck duly concealed in 5 travelling bags containing 47 packets.
“During preliminary investigation arrested person revealed that the drug was originated from Anantnag (Kashmir) and destined to Mumbai”, spokesman said, adding that further, during follow up action, two persons who were supplier of the drugs namely Ali Mohamad Khan (63) of District Anantnag and Mohammad Hussain Khan (48) of Anant Nagar have been apprehended from Jammu Airport by the team of NCB officials.
With the arrest of carriers and supplier alongwith major hauls of drugs and vehicle, nexus of the drug traffickers exposed and their attempts of drug smuggling in the present scenario have been foiled.
The spokesman further stated that this was the biggest seizure of cannabis in current year affected by NCB Zonal Unit Jammu and continuous efforts are going on to nab the drug smugglers in the area of jurisdiction and adjoining area.
He said that further investigation is under process to explore linkages between the drug smuggling from Kashmir valley and other States of India.
