KISHTWAR/ DODA, Mar 23: The contractual College lecturers, engaged by Higher Education Department are without salary in district Kishtwar and Doda for the last about eight months.
The aggrieved lecturers who are Post-graduates, NET qualified and even the Ph.D, told the Excelsior that they were engaged by the Higher Education Department on contractual basis. It is unfortunate that despite repeated requests to the College Principal concerned and even the written representation to the higher authorities, their wages have not been paid till date.
They further pointed out that Government has fixed Rs 22,000 per month for the Post graduates and Rs 28,000 for the NET qualified and the PhD candidates engaged on contract basis. Many of them hail from various far off districts of the region. They are residing in rented accommodations and cooking at their own. They are dependent on their parents and other family members for their livelihood. The Govt has forced them to face starvation even when they are putting hard labour in teaching the students. They sought the intervention of Governor Satya Pal Malik and his Advisor concerned for resolving their salary issue.
