JAMMU, Mar 24: National Book Trust, India is organizing a job-oriented book publishing course in association with Central University of Jammu at the CUJ campus Samba from March 25 to 31, under the skill development initiatives.
This was informed by Prof Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, National Book Trust India, while addressing a press conference, here today.
“Despite technological revolution taking place in various fields, love for books continue to rule the hearts of readers and would continue to do so. The training courses in book publishing by National Book Trust, India have caught attention of all stakeholders in publishing field creating job opportunities for trainees,” he said.
Prof Govind Singh of the Central University of Jammu, who accompanied the NBT India Chairman, informed the media that around 40 participants from various institutions, including students, research scholars and faculty members of CUJ have registered for the course. He said that such a course will prove quite useful for those from Jammu region as they don’t have the exposure to latest developments in book publishing field.
The training course aims to provide the participants with an overview of publishing. Hands-on experience and interactive sessions form an important segment of the course. Effective and participatory interaction is ensured through case studies, group discussions, project work and visit to publishing houses. Such courses have garnered good response even in remote areas including the North-East. Distinguished faculty and leading names in the field of publishing will interact with trainees on various aspects of publishing industry during the course.
Prof Chandra Bhushan Sharma, Chairman, National Institute of Open Schooling, New Delhi will be guest of honour in the inaugural function, which will be held at 10.30 am on 25 March 2019. Prof Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, National Book Trust, India, will be the chief guest and Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, will preside over the function
National Book Trust India is mandated to promote books and the habit of reading in the country. And the same can be achieved only when the industry has got adequate trained professionals in the publishing field, said NBT India Chairman.
