2 drug peddlers arrested with around 35 kgs cannabis

JAMMU, Mar 25: Narcotics Control Bureau, Zonal Unit Jammu arrested two drug peddlers and recovered around 35 kilograms of cannabis from their possession.
As per official spokesman, a team of NCB Zonal Unit Jammu laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and intercepted a Toyota Corolla car bearing registration number DL7CG-1566.
During checking, NCB team recovered 34.500 kilograms of cannabis from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Khan of Gotlibagh District Ganderbal and Showkat Ahmad Dar of Khanyar, Srinagar.
During preliminary investigation arrested person revealed that the drug was originated from Anantnag (Kashmir) and destined to Ajmer further Mumbai.
“With the arrest of these drug smugglers, a major hauls of drugs and vehicle, nexus of the drug traffickers exposed and foiled their attempts of drug smuggling in the present scenario”, spokesman said, adding that this is the second seizure of cannabis having big quantity and total 109 kilograms cannabis has been seized by NCB Jammu within a week.
Further investigation is under process to explore linkages between the drug smuggling from Kashmir valley and other States of India.
