MENDHAR, Mar 28 The body of a Government school teacher was recovered under mysterious circumstances, from the banks of river in Balnoi area of district Poonch today.
Sources said that some locals spotted the body lying at the bank of Mendhar river in Balnoi area and immediately informed police about it in the morning.
Soon after being informed, a police team led by SHO Mendhar, Insp Sajad Ahmad Mir and recovered the body. His mobile phone and key of the car was lying nearby. His car was parked on the road side at some distance from this spot while his friend’s house is located at the ridge about 2 kms on-foot journey from the spot.
Family members told police that teacher had told during the afternoon on Wednesday that he was going to Poonch along with his ex-serviceman friend of Ghani area and did not return home at night. He had reportedly gone to Ghani area at his friend’s house only. They kept waiting for him.
SDPO Mendhar, Neeraj Padyar also confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Gulzar Ahmad, son of Khan Mohammad, resident of Mankote.
SDPO said that the deceased was a teacher by profession and was posted at Government High School, Sagra.
The body was found lying with multiple injuries at river bank under mysterious circumstances and as such a case under 174 CrPc has been registered in this regard. One person has been detained for questioning in this connection, the SDPO said.
