JAMMU, Feb 16: The agitating Non-Government Employees Union in Jammu University today declared its affiliation with Jammu Kashmir People’s Democratic Trade Union.
The decision for affiliation was taken by the executive body of NGEU, which also submitted a formal letter to the JKPDTU in this regard.
Informing media persons about the development, NGEU president Krishan Chand said that the affiliation decision was taken keeping in view the sincere approach of JKPDTU president Suresh Sharma towards the working class.
He hoped that the JKPDTU would help the JU Class-IV employees and casual workers to get their demands conceded by the University. He also reiterated the NGEU demands, which included regularization of casual labourers, removal of pay anomalies etc.
President JKPDTU, Suresh Sharma sought to assure that the ongoing strike by NGEU would be brought to its logical conclusion. “It is sad state of affair that premier education institute of the State is paying deaf ear to the striking class-IV employees and casual labours,” he said and condemned the alleged negative approach of JU authorities, particularly the Vice-Chancellor towards the agitating employees.
Suresh Sharma stressed that the JU negotiating committee should immediately call the NGEU representatives and submit a concrete and feasible proposal to the VC for consideration of the demands and particularly the regularization of casual labourers who have completed seven years in service.
On the occasion, all the office bearers of NGEU and some leaders of JKPDTU, including Jasmit Singh Madan and B N Singh Jasrotia were also present.
