JAMMU, Mar 30: Five business establishments were challaned today under contraventions of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 while samples of milk, milk products and food supplements were lifted from different parts of the city by a Food Safety team of Jammu.
A special drive on food supplement/diet replacer being used by the body builders was conducted in Jammu City by the team of food safety officers headed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant commissioner, Food Safety, Municipal Limit Jammu under the directions of Commissioner of Food Safety, J&K, Jammu.
During the drive, 5 samples of food supplement/diet replacer i.e Muscle Blaze L-Glutamine, Muscle Blaze Fish Oil, Nutri Whey Protein, CAAS & EAAS and BCCA Protein were lifted from SNF shop Channi Himmat, Bright Life Care Private Limited at Wave Mall, Health for U at Balmiki Colony, Kumar & Kumar Sports at Gandhi Nagar and were sent to food testing laboratory to check their quality and detect steroids, if any.
The team also challaned 5 Food Business Operators under contraventions of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. Among those challaned were two chemist shops- ‘Blue Pharma’ at Balmiki Colony, Choice Medicates at Gandhi Nagar, and Zomato Media Private Limited at Trikuta Nagar, Papa Di Hatti at Channi Himat and Singh Food Junction at Channi Himat.
Moreover, team also lifted more than 28 samples of milk and six samples of paneer from different places for instant analysis by utilizing mobile food testing van.
The Team was comprised of food safety officers namely Ajay Khajuria, Hans Raj Andotra, Daleep Singh, Pervaiz Ahmed and Faheen Raja.
