JAMMU, Mar 31: State president of CITU and former MLA Mohd Yousuf Tarigami has appealed the members of working class to get united to fight against the anti-workers’ policies of Modi Govt.
Addressing one day conference of Bhawan Nirman Kamgar Union, Kathua, held today at Royal Palace Chadwal Mode, in district Kathua, Tarigami said that Modi Govt’s report card of almost five years is before people and there are only failures. Some of the big failures of the Modi-Government have been demonetisation, GST, betrayal with farmers, weakening of institutions, cultivation of hate and unemployment.
As a part of the ‘Achhe Din’ campaign in 2014 Modi Government had made a commitment to provide ten crore jobs in five-years. By the time of the completion of the four years of the Modi Government in May 2018, it became evident to the youth of the country that this was another fairy tale. The demonetization tsunami demolished even the jobs which were there before.
Instead of providing social security to the working people this Government adopted new laws to promote contractualisation and temporary employment. Minimum wages of Rs 18,000 to all workers, whether they are in informal sector or in schemes, or temporary workers in Government sector is nowhere. Even the already announced wages are not being implemented.
The assault of the Modi govt on the livelihood of the working class can be defeated only by the united mass struggles.
The conference was presided over by Ajit Kumar president of the union. Over 500 delegates participated in the conference. The conference deliberated upon various issues and problems confronting working class, with the determination to intensify struggles to fight anti-working class policies of the Government.
Om Parkash, general secretary CITU condemned the treatment towards construction workers in the State. He demanded simplifying the process of registration offline and online, pension scheme at par with Delhi state, minimum wages of Rs. 18000 and social security benefits like ESI, Pension, EPF etc. He also demanded restoration of Marriage Assistance scheme for the construction workers.
SP Kesar, senior CITU leader and Raj Kumar also spoke on the occasion. The conference elected 39 members working committee with Raj Kumar as general secretary, Ajit Raj as president and Som Lal as cashier of the Union.
