IGNOU Regional Centre organizes 32nd Convocation

JAMMU, Apr 3: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized its 32nd Convocation in the Conference Hall of KC Residency, Jammu.
Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion and awarded Degree Certificates to the eligible learners. A total of 9215 learners from Regional Centre Jammu were declared successful and eligible to receive Diplomas and Degree Certificates out of which 4825 are Master Degree awardees, 3853 are Bachelor Degree awardees, 384 are of Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma programmes and 153 learners are of six months duration Certificate programmes.
Around 118 learners of different programmes who had submitted their consent online were awarded Degree/Diploma Certificates in the Convocation function at Jammu in person.
Prof Bhasin, on the occasion, termed the 32nd Convocation of IGNOU as an occasion of celebration of IGNOU’s achievements which is referred to as the People’s University accessible to all those far and wide who otherwise would have lost the opportunity to gain access to higher education, improve upon their qualification and increase the chances of employment.
In her address, she urged the awardees to translate their educational achievements to benefit the world, saying that they all have a collective responsibility to work for progress of the society and the country as a whole.
Regional Director, K K Bhat, presented the Regional Centre Report. In his report, Bhat presented a summary of the initiatives that the University and the Regional Centre Jammu have taken to strengthen students support services network in the region.
The Convocation concluded with vote of thanks presented by Tajinder Pal Singh, Assistant Registrar of the Regional Centre Jammu.
