SRINAGAR, Apr 4: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz today lambasted BJP national president Amit Shah for his statement defending AFSPA in Jammu and Kashmir.
“I had never imagined Amit Shah to be so ignorant and given to fascist thinking as I assessed through his vituperative criticism of Congress Party for its assertion that it would review AFSPA completely and open a dialogue in Kashmir,” he said in a statement, issued here today.
Prof Soz stressed that the general run of Indians, who respect democratic aspirations of citizens and concern for Human Rights, must denounce Amit Shah’s design of politics, altogether. “Time and again, Amit Shah has proved that he is a ‘Gobalian propagandist’ having no time even to read the Hindi version of the AFSPA, the application of which in J&K has worked as a double-edged sword – resulting in killing of thousands of Kashmiris and deepening alienation of Kashmiris against the Union of India,” he added.
Reminding that it was N Biren Singh, the BJP Chief Minister of Manipur, who had said vociferously that the AFSPA needed to be reviewed completely, Prof Soz hoped that sooner than later, people like Amit Shah would understand that use of force in Kashmir was only a futile exercise of power which will remain counter-productive for the Union of India.
