JWAM stages protest, demands compensation for gutted shops

JAMMU, Apr 4: Activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) along with traders here today staged a protest demonstration against IRCON and served 72 hours ultimatum to compensate for the shops gutted yesterday at New Plot due to alleged short circuit.
Family members of traders whose shops were gutted also participated in the protest under the leadership of JWAM leader Sunil Dimple.
Dimple said that cloth showroom of Depak Gupta suffered damage of crores of rupees while Vijay Gupta’s M/S Gupta Bed House, Anil Khanna’s M/S Khanna Provision Store and Muna Kumar Tilak Raj Dogra’s house suffered blaze putting the owners to big losses.
JWAM leader said though DC Jammu, Tehsildar and Patwaries have accessed the losses but ceiling of these shops have also been damaged in the fire.
“All the furniture of the show rooms, their display boards, electrification and ACs has also suffered damages,” Dimple maintained.
He appealed to the police department to intensify their formalities and work in coordination with the revenue teams.
Dimple alleged that IRCON has done very substandard work and installed poor gadgets which catch fire even at little load.
Anil, Sonu Gupta, Vinod Gupta, Thodu Ram, Dalep Kumar and other were also present in the protest.
