JAMMU, Apr 5: BJP leader and party contesting candidate from Srinagar Lok Sabha Constituency, Khalid Jahangir today said that the need of the hour is to apprise people of Kashmir about the truth instead of misleading and exploiting their sentiments on the emotive issues.
Jhangir, who was talking to reporters here, today along with BJP senior leader and MLC, Surinder Ambardar, Sofi Yousf MLC the contesting candidate form Anantnag Lok Sabha Constituency and president BJP Kashmir Displaced District, Chand Ji Bhat said he has visited here to have an interaction with displaced people especially the youth of the community and also arrange meetings of displaced youth with the youth of majority community from the Valley to bridge the gap created by the vested interests over the years.
Jahangir, who is contesting elections against the National Conference president and former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah from Srinagar Constituency held him as well as other leaders of the Kashmir especially those from dynastic parties responsible of distancing Kashmiris from rest of India for their vested interests.
He said these parties kept the people and youth of Kashmir in dark thinking that if they will know the reality they will ditch the dynastic parties marring their political chances. “Otherwise I have nothing personnel with Dr Farooq Abdullah but I contest against him because I differ with him on the ideological basis ”, he added.
Jahangir said some parties from Valley created wedge between Delhi and rest of India and need of the hour is to bridge it once for all.
On the return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits from Valley, he said their issue should neither be seen from political point of view nor religious point but it should be taken as a humanitarian issue. There is a need of roadmap for rehabilitation of KPs back in Valley and Narendra Modi Government is working on that. Pandits too have faith in the leadership of Modi and they trust him a lot, he added.
Making a scathing attack on Congress, he said Congress is responsible for present crisis in Valley. He also termed PDP-BJP alliance was a new experiment in politics and it failed as PDP leaders indulged in corruption and also interfered in national security matters which is of paramount importance to BJP.
He said situation in Kashmir has seen a discernable change after Governor’s rule and violence is on decrease while Muftis, Abdullahs and their policies distanced Kashmiri youth from rest of India. “I am with Kashmiris and I want to take them closer to Delhi”, he added.
“There are some internal and external forces working in Kashmir to destablise the peace and we all have to work jointly to defeat their designs”.
Surinder Ambardar, while turning tables on NC advocating for separate PM for the State said NC roots have been eroded in the State now and party is standing on crutches. First let the NC which has lost its ground get the majority to rule in the State then talk about the separate PM. The issue of separate PM has been buried since, he added.
Ambardar said no one will be allowed to distance Kashmir from India of which it is the integral part. The temporary provisions of 370 and 35 A have to go today or tomorrow as both these articles are discriminatory. Ambardar accused the NC and PDP leaders of exploiting sentiments of Kashmiris for their vested political interests and held the two parties responsible for 30 year long blood bath in Valley.
Virender Sathoo a social activist who recently joined BJP was also present in press conference.
