Bookies racket busted, five arrested

JAMMU, Apr 8: Janipur Police busted a racket of bookies by arresting five persons.
“Acting on tip-off, a team from Janipur Police Station with Magistrate, late on Sunday night raided the house of one Rahul Dogra of Janipur Housing Colony and busted the cricket bookie racket”, police spokesman said.
He said that the kingpin of the racket along with four others have been found playing and accepting the bet money on cricket, especially IPL and were arrested on the spot with a cash of Rs 67600, one laptop, 18 mobile phones, one calculator, two sets of playing cards and other stationery items used for entries were seized.
Other arrested persons were identified as Arjun Tyagi of Krishan Vihar near Kali Mata Mandir Janipur, Colony, Subash of Mohalla Jatkhatrian, Peer Mitha, Jammu, Vikrant Sharma of Gali Darugiran, Kanak Mandi, Jammu and Atual Gupta of Shivalik Puram, Janipur Housing Colony.
A case under FIR Number 48/19 under relevant Sections has been registered at Janipur Police Station and investigation started.
