KATHUA, Apr 10: Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) an organisation of DPs of 1947 from PoJK has decided to support and vote in favour of Dr Jitendra Singh the Union Minister and BJP candidate from, Kathua, Udhampur and Doda Parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha elections falling on April 18 this year.
Talking to reporters here, today Bhushan Sharma, president JKSAS, district Kathua made an appeal to DPs of all categories particularly 1947 from PoJK to wholeheartedly vote in favour of Dr Jitendra Singh and make him successful for the second time for the total development of the constituency which has been neglected previously by the successive representatives.
He said the DPs of 1947 from PoJK are in relentless struggle from the past more than six decades to achieve their reasonable and respectable rehabilitation keeping in view the losses suffered by them in shape of human lives and property during 1947 turmoil. The DPs remained neglected because of negative mindset of the dispensations of Valley centric political parties in connivance with Congress, he added.
Bhushan Sharma alleged that the DPs suffered injustice through the hands of Congress who was always voted to power by them with the hope that it will resolve their issue of rehabilitation. But the party never reciprocated this support and it politically exploited and cheated them on every now and then.
He said the DPs were not given any kind of relief or compensation and whatever little bit was given on one hand was taken by the Government on the other hand. Their wards were never given any kind of reservation in employment and technical institutions, he added.
He said even they were not given any economic support with the result the future of their coming generation is under great threat.
The Sharnarthi leader expressed his satisfaction to say that it has happened for the first time in the Modi Government at Centre which acknowledged the legitimacy of DPs issue and came to their rescue by announcing a relief package of Rs 2000 crore which is being distributed among DPs. Though the package lacked the road map still it has given a solace to all the DPs and kindled a ray of hope in them that after formation of Government at Centre Narendra Modi will take up the issue of DPs to logical conclusion.
Sharma appealed to DPs of all categories including others to strengthen the hands of Modi for the larger national interests by voting in favour of Dr Jitendra Singh. He also cautioned and urged the people in the constituency in general and DPs in particular not to be misled by self motivated propaganda of any individual contesting election whose party is sitting in the lap of anti national elements.
