Work on JU Kishtwar Campus to begin soon: Kichloo

JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister of State for Industries & Commerce and Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, today stated that work on the Kishtwar campus of Jammu University will be taken up shortly and in Phase I, Academic Block and Girls & Boys Hostels will be constructed.
In a statement, the Minister thanked Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar and Director, JU Kishtwar Campus, Dr. Shohab Inayat Malik for prioritizing work on the Campus, estimated to cost Rs. 19 crore, for which 26 kanals of land has already been acquired.
“We have identified another 101 kanals of land for which Rs. 6 crore compensation is required,” he said, adding work on Phase II of the project will begin as soon as the identified land is made available to the executing agency.
The Minister said the Government is working to strengthen the higher education network in the State so that we make our educational institutions seats of excellence and learning. He added that Kishtwar Campus will have state-of-the-art infrastructure and required faculties so that it emerges as a seat of great learning.
Kichloo also said that he will request VC JU to establish Department of Persian Studies once the campus is commissioned as it will compliment the people of Kishtwar for their liking for literature. He added that hunger of younger generation for knowledge should not diminish for country’s bright future and prosperity.
