JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister of State for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmad Khan has underlined the need for modernization of revenue records to streamline revenue operations in the State.
Chairing a high level meeting of the Revenue Department here today, the Minister asked the officers to ensure computerization of revenue records in the State within five years to enable people hassle free access to these records.
Mr. Ajaz also asked the officers to work for effective implementation of National Land Records Modernization Programme in the State. The programme is aimed at computerizing the revenue records of the entire State in a phased manner.
The Minister also reviewed the implementation of disaster management authority in the State and asked the officers to take it all across the State for its efficient execution.
Mr. Ajaz stressed the need for infrastructure strengthening at field level to ensure that the officers of the department deliver without any problem of mobility or space. He asked for making a detailed plan for constructing office accommodations at Niabats and tehsils. He also stressed the need for building disaster proof record rooms which can house the revenue records without any problem.
The Minister asked the officers to ensure speedy disposal of cases of the department in courts to ensure that pendency is minimized.
The meeting also discussed issues of staffing including promotions, seniority and transfers in the department. Mr. Ajaz impressed upon the officers to hold regular promotions to ensure that the motivation and dedication of the employees remains high.
Commissioner-Secretary, Revenue, B. A. Runiyal, Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Arun Kumar, Settlement Commissioner, Lateef-u-Zaman Deva and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
