Srinagar, Apr 16: Army today allegedly manhandled a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and damaged his official vehicle after an argument with an Army officer in Ujroo area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The SDM Duroo, Ghulam Rasool Wani, had an argument with an army officer after he was stopped by them while he was on his way to Qazigund.
Wani was thrashed by the soldiers following which the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag rushed to the spot.
The employees of the SDM protested against the thrashing of the officer by army. They have demanded action against the officer responsible for the assault.
The SDM has sent a former letter to the Station House Officer Police Station Qazigund seeking registration of a case against the officer.
Defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said the details were being ascertained by the army.
