JAMMU, Feb 19: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma convened an officers meeting here today and took stock of the arrangements regarding forthcoming Maha Shivratri festival. He also reviewed plans for the smooth conduct of Jhankis which will be taken out on March 9, 2013 within Jammu city.
Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of various departments to ensure all necessary arrangements well in time, adding that there should be no shortage of essential commodities.
He directed Health Department to provide ambulances to accompany the Jhankis/procession which will pass though different bazaars of city.
PDD was asked to provide uninterrupted power supply during the festival days while JMC was assigned task of cleanliness and sanitation at the main temples likely to be thronged by the devotees.
Arrangements with regard to traffic, security, barricading and along the procession route were also reviewed.
Representatives of local religious organization apprised the Deputy Commissioner about their demands related to Shivratri festival.
The meeting was also attended by AC General, Tilak Raj Shastri, XEn PDD A. K. Chibber, Deputy Director Information Yash Paul Suman, Health Officer Jammu Vinod Sharma, Dy SP Security Ashok Singh, AEE Rafiq Sheikh, DHO Jammu Dr. Danish Khan, Secy J&K D. T. Shashi Khajuria, other senior officers of District Administration and representatives of Shiv Sevak, Ranweshwar Mandir and various religious organizations.
