JAMMU, Feb 19: Special Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice J P Singh has asked the oil companies to come out with a proposal as to how the population living in remote areas could be provided LPG without any inconvenience.
The direction was passed by the Special Division Bench in court on its own motion PIL.
After hearing Senior Advocate D C Raina, Court Counsel, ASGI K K Pangotra for Union of India, Advocate R Koul for oil companies and Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, Special DB observed, “an affidavit on behalf of the oil companies in compliance to the direction dated December 17, 2012 as well as on behalf of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu has been filed. However, a copy of the affidavit has not been exchanged between the counsel for the oil companies and the Advocate General”.
“Both the counsels undertake to exchange the copies. The copies have already been furnished to Senior Advocate DC Raina. Any response to the affidavit may be filed”, the DB said and directed that Senior Advocate D C Raina may also prepare a report, if so advised.
“On the next date of hearing, oil companies are expected to come out with a proposal as to how the population living in remote areas of hilly terrain could be served without any inconvenience”, the DB said and directed Registry to list the PIL on March 19, 2013.
