JAMMU, Feb 20: At least 20 Vaishno Devi pilgrims got injured when a bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and turned turtle in Katra town of mountainous Reasi district.
“A bus JK02S-9947 on way from Jammu to Katra, this afternoon turned turtle near village Mayari, just 10 kilometres short of Katra town,” Mohan Lal, Superintendent of Police-Katra told reporters.
He said at least 20 Vaishno Devi pilgrims sustained injuries in the mishap and were shifted to the Katra hospital by the locals and the police.
“Out of injured, 12 were discharged and eight were referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu,” the officer said.
Governor N N Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has expressed concern and sympathy for the injured and wished them speedy recovery.
He also asked the CEO to urgently provide all help to those injured.
After discussions with the Chief Executive Officer, Navin K Choudhary, has directed Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, to provide all required help and support to those injured in this unfortunate accident.
Mr Bhandari, however, directed the General Manager, Vaishnavi Dham, Jammu, to rush to the Government Medical College, Jammu, to ascertain the help and support required by the injured people who have been shifted. (AGENCIES)
